The real estate industry stands at the forefront of an unprecedented technological revolution, and it’s important that the right voices lead the conversation. Enter the Real Estate Technology & Transformation Center (RETTC), a new association focused on the intersection of real estate and technology. Strategically aligned with the National Multifamily Housing Council, RETTC is bringing leaders from both technology and real estate together to speak with a unified pro-tech, pro-housing voice.

RETTC was born out of a recognition that technology is reshaping the real estate landscape in ways that benefit all stakeholders—most notably renters and our communities. By fostering collaboration between real estate and technology leaders, RETTC will help address some of the nation’s most pressing housing challenges. That means driving innovation in real estate tech, accelerating the integration of cutting-edge technologies into housing operations, and ensuring a unified voice for the industry in policy discussions.

Why RETTC Matters

Technology in real estate is a force for good. New advancements—from artificial intelligence (AI) to managed Wi-Fi—are helping housing providers lower costs, operate more efficiently, and offer better amenities to residents. That’s not all. These new tools are also helping the industry advance pro-renter solutions that are making the market for housing more efficient in communities across the country. This “proptech revolution” is about more than driving business success; it’s about creating new opportunities to improve housing outcomes and elevate the resident experience.

RETTC will play a crucial role in educating policymakers and the public about how these technologies are driving positive outcomes across rental housing.

This mission is increasingly important, as policymakers are weighing whether and how to address concerns about AI, data privacy, and other issues at the intersection of real estate and technology. At RETTC, we will advocate for policies that promote innovation, not stymie it, while also championing the ethical development and use of real estate technology.

What RETTC Does

RETTC is championing sustainable innovation by focusing on three key areas:

1. Education and Research: RETTC will spearhead research initiatives and create opportunities for education. By staying on the cutting edge of technology, RETTC will empower members to make informed decisions about how best to adopt new technologies;

2. Networking and Collaboration: RETTC will serve as the premier forum where housing providers, technology companies, and investors can convene year-round. With dedicated working groups and committees, RETTC will provide a platform for members to develop strong professional connections, discuss challenges, and identify solutions; and

3. Advocacy and Policy: RETTC will engage with policymakers of all types to share information about key issues such as AI, broadband access, and data privacy. This advocacy and education will be critical, given that these issues are of growing interest to policymakers across the country.

Looking Ahead

RETTC’s role is to ensure that rental housing is prepared for the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead. As real estate technology continues to evolve, so too must the policies and practices that govern it. Whether advocating for a national standard on data privacy or pushing for policies that expand broadband access to all rental housing communities, RETTC will work to create a policy landscape that fosters innovation and protects consumers.

At the same time, RETTC will continue to show how real estate technology can improve housing affordability and accessibility, creating more resilient and equitable communities in the process. We strongly believe that by harnessing the power of technology, the real estate industry can continue to deliver for its residents and meet America’s growing housing needs.

We invite you to learn more about RETTC and its efforts to shape the future of real estate technology. Together, we can leverage new technologies to solve America’s housing challenges and create a brighter, more connected future for all.
