Smart home and lighting control provider Brilliant has launched a new smart infrastructure management platform designed specifically for multifamily communities. The offering includes a new enterprise software and automation tool suite, compatible with a wide variety of first- and third-party smart home products and property management systems.
"Our mission is to make smart home living accessible, affordable, and effortless for as many people as possible," says Aaron Emigh, co-founder and CEO of Brilliant. "With this launch, we're bringing cost savings and ease of management to property developers, owners, and managers, while offering tenants an unparalleled smart apartment experience."
The system is designed to easily install in both new and existing multifamily properties. Within each unit, residents can control any of their home’s smart features—including lighting, climate, music, locks, or intercom systems—through a Brilliant Smart Home Control panel, which installs in place of a standard light switch panel. Each one features built-in Amazon Alexa voice control and motion detection, plus a compatible mobile app for unit control anywhere.
At the property level, managers can use Brilliant to control, monitor, or automate systems anywhere in the building. With the right set of integrations, users can automate heating or cooling cycles in vacant units and common areas, monitor or control smart locks, catch water leaks and frozen pipes, and sync vacancy or occupancy information from Entrata, with other property management platform integrations coming soon.
Products compatible with the Brilliant multifamily system, and available as a part of the platform suite, include Resideo's Honeywell Home smart thermostats and water leak detectors, Brilliant Smart Dimmer Switches, Sonos speakers, Ring Peephole and indoor cameras, SALTO KS Smart Locks, ButterflyMX smart intercoms, and Brilliant Smart Plugs.
Among the first Brilliant multifamily platform clients is CA Ventures, a real estate investor and developer with $13 billion in assets across the U.S., Europe, and Latin America. The developer will begin to include complete Brilliant systems in its new apartment communities starting later this year.
"We are thrilled to partner with Brilliant to start offering the most innovative and user-friendly smart apartment experience available on the market," says Mark Zikra, vice president of innovation for CA Ventures. "After a thorough evaluation of the smart apartment space, we chose Brilliant for its robust and dynamic smart apartment control options, and its complementary enterprise software solution to reduce operating costs for our assets."
The Brilliant smart apartment system is available in the U.S. and Canada. Individual smart components are offered as a one-time purchase, while the management software and services are provided for a per-unit monthly fee.
