Pet-friendly is an understatement for Related Companies. It doesn’t just allow four-legged friends; it caters to them with a slice of doggie heaven called Dog City.
After quickly realizing that grooming stations were among the most-used amenities in its other properties, Related decided to go all-out with a dog spa in its New York MiMA property. At Dog City, residents can find just about anything their pets ever dreamed of, including an indoor play area, outdoor pool, play dates and doggie yoga. Grooming stations are available, but residents can also schedule an appointment with a visiting groomer, as well as a visiting veterinarian for health needs.
Staff work around residents’ schedules and will pick up their dog for appointments while they’re out. Dog City also provides emergency walks and in-unit care for cat-sitting, puppies with incomplete vaccinations, and geriatric pets.
A standard membership starts at $500 per year for access to Dog City facilities with tiered memberships that increase the amount of dog walks and washes per week. Every plan is customizable to meet residents’ needs, so fees vary greatly. Additional services such as play dates cost extra.
With great success in New York, Related opened its second Dog City in Chicago in 2013 and is now expanding its popular amenity to other properties across the country.
