While several amenities and services at Nine on the Hudson in West New York, N.J., cater to working adults, developer K. Hovnanian at Port Imperial Urban Renewal VI also incorporated features for the community’s little ones. An infinity-edge pool and a grassy courtyard allow kids to enjoy their time outside during warmer months, but an expansive room indoors was designed to let their imaginations run wild.

Geometrical shapes, patterns, and vibrant colors on the walls and carpeted floors welcome users to the 2,500-square-foot space. Numerous cushioned reading nooks and a fully stocked library with children’s books make the room an ideal location for reading, while tables, chairs, and easels scattered throughout provide work areas for arts and crafts. Exterior windows overlooking the outdoor courtyard fill the space with ample natural light, and interior windows from the nearby fitness center allow parents to supervise kids’ play while working out.

The team at Nine on the Hudson schedules family-friendly, year-round events in the room, which have included story time with Disney’s Elsa from “Frozen,” a summer party with Poppy from “Trolls,” balloon art, and a glitter tattoo artist. The space is also available to residents to rent for birthday parties and activities.
