If there was any one thing the developers of Union SLU needed to get right, it was the amenities. Situated in the hip Seattle community of South Lake Union, the mid-rise building would be within walking distance of such well-known companies as Amazon and Microsoft. So exceptional housing targeting Gen Yers was a must.

Holland Partner Group catered to this demographic’s specific needs with amenities including a media room with theater seating and an 80-inch TV; a 1,000-square-foot-plus fitness room; a “pea patch” on one of the rooftop decks, with multiple planters for growing fruit, vegetables, and herbs; and a large, rooftop dog run.

One of the biggest takeaways from the location, however, was the building’s close proximity to a major bike commuter route. As such, the building features a street-level bike workshop complete with storage lockers, a work counter, repair stands, and a flat-screen TV and beverage fridge so that residents can gather for bike work and pleasure. To further encourage social interaction, the community even fostered meet-and-greets by holding events in conjunction with National Bike to Work Day.
