Kimberly Byrum, managing principal of Zonda, Multifamily Executive’s parent company, discussed the latest on the U.S. multifamily market with Bloomberg's Caroline Hyde, Romaine Bostick, and Joe Weisenthal on "What'd You Miss?"
Byrum weighed in on rent and unit trends as well as the markets seeing strong growth.
“Over the last 20 days, we are really starting to see some pops in the high-growth suburbs in asking rent,” she told the hosts. “What’s behind that is obviously the improving fundamentals, but more importantly, there’s a wizard behind the curtain—that’s revenue management.”
While construction of new single-family homes has been hot, Byrum said the multifamily industry will have a slow construction pipeline for the next 18 to 24 months. “I think our catch-up will be 2024,” she added.
