Construction is set to begin in September on Pixon, the fourth multifamily project in Tavistock Development Co.’s Lake Nona master-designed community in Orlando, Fla.

The urban-style community will feature the Orlando market’s first six micro-apartment units, which will average 360 square feet in size. The remaining units (201 total) will range from studios to one- and two-bedroom apartments. Each apartment features 10-foot, full-length windows; stainless steel appliances; quartz countertops; hardwood flooring; and in-suite laundry units. Pixon residents will also enjoy Lake Nona’s high-speed fiber-optic Internet service.

Multiple Tesla vehicles will be available on-site for shared resident use, providing an eco- and neighbor-friendly transportation option for Pixon residents. Electric-car–charging stations will also be available for personal vehicles, plus bicycle storage and a three-story parking garage, which will connect to the main, 11-story tower via an enclosed, second-story walkway. The community will host a 24-hour concierge and valet, as well.

The 24-hour fitness center will support Lake Nona’s recognition as the world’s most sophisticated wellness community by the Global Wellness Institute. The center features first-class equipment and on-demand fitness services in partnership with Technogym.

The ground floor will contain 32,500 square feet of retail space alongside a ground-floor resident lobby and co-living space, which will include a virtual arcade, kitchen and bar space, and a private conference room. The second-level lounge will feature a variety of work centers, including a 3-D printer and computer stations, alongside a game and media center and community kitchen. The nearby amenity deck will provide residents with an urban "backyard" space, including a fountain and outdoor kitchen area. A sky lounge will be available on the top (11th) floor, featuring panoramic views and private dining. The pet-friendly community will feature a pet spa and grooming area.

Balfour Beatty Construction will serve as general contractor, and SPM Property Management, which also manages Lake Nona’s Ariel, LandonHouse, and WaterMark communities, will serve as property manager. Leasing is scheduled to begin next summer, and the community will open in late 2018.

Lake Nona is one of the fastest-growing communities in the Orlando region, with more than $1 billion worth of new developments in the pipeline over the next 36 months. At full build-out, Lake Nona, which is adjacent to Orlando International Airport, will house millions of square feet of commercial space, thousands of hotel rooms, and 25,000 residents on 17 square miles. Pixon will be located within walking distance of the Lake Nona Town Center.
