The shift to a service economy requires migration, but housing regulations and affordability challenges stand in the way.

J Turner Research has announced the inaugural Division ORA Power Ranking, which marks the expansion of the Online Reputation Assessment (ORA) award recognition to include all management companies that manage over 2,000 units. For the past five years, we have limited this recognition to the NMHC Top 50 management companies, ranking the Top 10 of this group by online reputation.

The Division ORA Power Ranking expands the scope of our rankings to include almost all management companies across the nation. Division I, announced in May, listed the Top 10 of the NMHC Top 50 management companies with the best online reputation in the nation.

In June, we rank the Top 10 management companies by ORA score in Division II (20,000 units up to Division I), Division III (10,000 to 19,999 units), and Division IV (2,000 to 9,999 units). The divisions were determined based on the management companies and unit count obtained from ALN Data Services in May.

These division rankings will be annual. The expansion of the ORA awards allows companies of similar size to compare their online rankings.

Our footprint of properties has grown, and we now monitor the online ratings and reviews of 120,000-plus properties in the nation across over 21 review sites and ILSs. The national average ORA score is 61.90.

About the ORA Power Rankings
Developed by J Turner Research, the ORA Power Rankings are a monthly, independent ranking of apartment properties and management companies based on their ORA scores. A property or management company is not required to be a J Turner Research client to qualify for this ranking, which is published by J Turner’s media partner Multifamily Executive. To learn more or to request your ORA score, visit www.jturnerresearch.com/about/what-is-ora-score.

Methodology
The ORA score is an aggregate compilation of a property’s ratings across 21 plus review sites and ILSs. Each month, J Turner Research monitors the online ratings of more than 120,000 properties nationwide. Using a statistical model, a single score based on a scale of 0 to 100 is assigned to each property. This score serves as a benchmark to compare a company’s individual properties and portfolios nationally, regionally, and against the competition.
