The Flo by Moen line of smart water monitors now supports the Flo by Moen Property Water Security System, an enterprise solution that allows rental and multifamily property managers to monitor a property’s water systems in real time. Using a web-based dashboard, property owners and managers can view water usage metrics across multiple properties, as well as monitor for leaks and provide alerts about potential water issues to on-site staff.
The system incorporates a network of Flo by Moen Smart Water Shutoff devices installed on the water lines leading into each units. Each device continuously monitors the water pressure, flow rate, and ambient temperature of a given water line in order to automatically identify leaks or other issues, and automatically alerts property teams if an issue is detected—either via dashboard, text, call, or email. The devices can also automatically shut off water if a leak is detected, or via remote user command.
Property owners can also use the system’s water monitoring analytics to view the property’s water consumption and set conservation and savings goals. According to the manufacturer, properties may be eligible for discounts on insurance through a broker with the installation.
“Water damage can be devastating, so it’s important for property owners to be able to protect themselves and the residents that occupy their buildings, and smart technology can help provide peace of mind and allow teams to manage issues with efficiency,” says Mason Hall, director, marketing, digital, and IoT, for Fortune Brands Global Plumbing Group. “The Property Water Security System is designed to provide a preventative approach to leak detection, and with programmable, 24/7 monitoring and alerts, it also allows users to communicate within the system so it’s easy to track when maintenance crews have resolved potential issues.”
System accessories include a spacer installation kit, battery backup, and extension cables, as well as an optional cellular antenna for properties without a buildingwide Wi-Fi connection.
