After attracting the highest rental activity on RentCafe.com in the last 12 months, Atlanta ranked as the top market to watch this year, according to RentCafe’s Rental Activity Report.
Renters searching online added 60% more Atlanta listings to their favorites list in 2023 than 2022, and the rate of saved searches for Atlanta rentals was highest compared with all 150 cities analyzed. On eight occasions, the city ranked among the top 10 most sought-after places, including reaching No. 1 twice.
Based on rental activity, Kansas City, Missouri, is the second top market to watch with 62% more listings traffic and renters adding three times as many favorites to their list. The vibrant yet affordable city started 2023 above Atlanta in monthly rankings and claimed a place among the top three cities six times.

With 12 cities making the top 30 list, the Midwest saw the most rental activity in 2023, which was more than any other region. Cities included Minneapolis; Detroit; Chicago; Columbus, Ohio; and Indianapolis, among others. The South was home to nine cities in the top 30, and the Northeast claimed five.
