Students at California State University, Stanislaus (CSUS), moved back to school this week, and The Vista started housing some of its newest residents.
The AMCAL Equities property in Turlock, Calif., is home to 660 students in 180 units ranging in size from single-person studios to four-bedrooms, with a private bathroom for nearly every bedroom.
The housing complex includes three four-story buildings, one of which is a 6,460-square-foot clubhouse, as well as outside volleyball and basketball courts, a pool, outdoor TV lounge, theater, cyber cafe, and 24-hour fitness center. The eco-friendly, LEED Silver development is located only 100 feet from the edge of campus and spans 9.7 acres.
“Student housing with modern amenities, including academic programming that's in close proximity to CSUS, gives students an opportunity to focus on their classes by living close to school, but also to establish friendships with other students—two elements [that] have been shown to help improve overall academic success," said Percival Vaz, AMCAL Equities’ CEO, in a news release. “Projects like The Vista are a perfect example of how the private sector can, and should, support our valuable public institutions by providing quality student-focused housing."
AMCAL is in the process of developing student housing at four other CSU campuses—San Jose, Chico, Sacramento, and Humboldt—which are scheduled to be completed from 2018 to 2020.
