In response to the overwhelming need for housing in Houston and the surrounding area, Yardi has added the Hurricane Harvey Disaster Response Page to the RENTCafé listing service.

Any property managers with apartment or housing units in or around the affected area can list them on this registry, and displaced residents looking for temporary or permanent housing can instantly access a list of rental units in their area that are able to take them. Any property on this list is labeled as “Helping Hurricane Harvey Evacuees,” and many of the properties offer same-day move-ins. Neither property managers nor prospective renters are charged for RENTCafé’s services.

Each Hurricane Harvey Disaster Response Page submission is reviewed and processed by RENTCafé staff. The registry forbids any listing that RENTCafé deems uninhabitable or that violates the Texas Deceptive Trade Practices Consumer Protection Act, which “expressly prohibits exorbitant or excessive prices.” Property managers are encouraged to include any incentives for evacuees in their property descriptions.

Yardi has also launched a hotline that displaced residents can call for housing assistance. The toll-free number is (844) 363-6317.
