Introducing the MFE Hall of Fame

A new category in our annual awards program, the MFE Hall of Fame is calling for nominations of apartment industry execs who have had outstanding careers.

For the most part, the apartment industry is full of people who ended up here by accident. Some find their way in through a job as a property manager to help them make ends meet, or an opportunity that was presented to them straight out of college as an intern.

No matter how people end up in this industry, though, it’s clear that it almost always becomes a lifelong career. The entry-level property manager who eventually became president of the company. The Realtor who started her own company and became the CEO of a large owner–operator. The college grad who got a first job offer and stayed with the company for 30 years.

In an effort to recognize these veterans of our industry, Multifamily Executive is launching the MFE Hall of Fame, a new category within our annual MFE Awards program. Companies can nominate their industry leaders to be considered for the MFE Hall of Fame through the same process used to submit candidates for the Executive of the Year, Rising Star, and Projects of the Year categories.

In reviewing the nominations, the judges and editorial team will be looking for industry leaders who have had an outsized impact on their companies, teams, and peers. These individuals should have more than 20 years of experience in the apartment business.

The Executive of the Year award will still be included as a category in the MFE Awards program, but with the launch of the MFE Hall of Fame, the Executive of the Year award will focus more on an executive who has had a single great year in leading his or her company to new heights or through challenging times. Hall of Fame nominees, conversely, will be evaluated based on their entire, 20-plus-year body of work in the multifamily field.
