President Joe Biden unveiled a sweeping $2.25 trillion infrastructure plan today that calls for investing $213 billion to produce, preserve, and retrofit more than 2 million affordable and sustainable places to live.

The American Jobs Plan also seeks to:

  • Build and rehabilitate more than 500,000 homes for low- and middle-income home buyers.
  • Specifically, he wants Congress to pass the Neighborhood Homes Investment Act, which would offer about $20 billion worth of tax credits;
  • Eliminate exclusionary zoning and harmful land-use policies;Address longstanding public housing capital needs by investing $40 billion to improve the public housing system; andSet the corporate tax rate at 28%.

The infrastructure plan also includes major transportation, water, energy, and broadband initiatives.
