Time Equities, JK Equities, and Oak Capitals on Oct. 9 announced the start of sales for 1000M, an upcoming, ultra-luxury condominium tower on Chicago’s Cultural Mile. The team also opened an 8,000-square-foot sales gallery near the development site. The LEED-certified tower is expected to break ground in late 2018, with completion planned for 2021.

At 72 stories and 832 feet tall, 1000M will be one of the tallest towers on the Chicago skyline. German architect and longtime Windy City resident Helmut Jahn drew his inspiration for the design from “the intersection of city and nature.” The tower gradually widens at the northeast and southeast corners and makes use of floor-to-ceiling glass and high ceilings to optimize the surrounding views and natural light.
Inside, interior designer and architect Kara Mann has created modern, inspiring surroundings for the tower’s 323 units and 40,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor amenity space. The units will range from 926-square-foot, one-bedroom units to 5,491-square-foot-penthouses, which are available in a choice of three custom color palettes. Each will feature natural wood floors, custom cabinetry, natural and man-made stone options for kitchens and bathrooms, and high-end kitchen appliances. Upper-level units will include large in-set balconies.
“The team behind this project shares a vision of beauty and is committed to exposing that vision inside and out. Helmut and Kara have truly created an uncompromising dedication to the art of living with 1000M, and it is redefining luxury and sophisticated living in this lakefront location, where city and nature meet,” said Francis Greenburger, chairman of Time Equities, in a statement.
The tower’s two-story Michigan Avenue lobby features a social lounge, art installations, and Venetian-textured walls. A separate, covered entrance leads into a porte cochere and 400-car garage. Additional lobby features include a 24-hour concierge, high-speed elevators, car and driver service, and a resident-only dog park and spa.
The amenity space is divided between 30,000 square feet on the 11th floor and 10,000 square feet on the 72nd floor. The fitness center is located on the 11th floor, along with separate strength, cardio, and yoga/barre rooms and a beauty bar. The spa offers a sauna, steam room, salt room, and multiple therapy rooms, as well as a virtual meditation lounge. The space also houses a library lounge with fireplaces and a terrace, a conservatory for music and art exhibitions, a cinema-style theater, a golf simulator, a game room, a children’s room, a sound studio, a catering kitchen, and a co-working space and conference room. An exterior terrace features elevated gardens and walking paths, outdoor grills, fire pits, and a 52-foot swimming pool, open during summer.
On the 72nd floor, a 19-foot, floor-to-ceiling winter garden features year-round plants, seating, and 180-degree views of Lake Michigan and the Chicago skyline. The tower’s full-service bar and lounge, Club 1000, will provide residents with cocktails, live music and events, along with a wine-tasting room, private wine storage, a private dining room, and a sky terrace with telescopes and sculptured benches.
“One-thousand M will not only be making an impact on Chicago’s skyline, but also on the luxury market, presenting an unrivaled product,” said Jerry Karlik, president of JK Equities. “It will be a special addition to the downtown area and set a new standard of quality through its finishes, amenities, and pure execution.”
The project's Chicago Mile location places it within walking distance of neighborhood parks, restaurants, transportation, schools, and cultural institutions, as well as Lake Michigan. Pricing at 1000M will begin at approximately $557,000 and range up to $8.5 million for a four-bedroom penthouse.
