The developer of the Carraway Village project in Chapel Hill, N.C., has revealed that the first two restaurants signing on to the project include Starbucks Coffee and Chick-Fil-A. Both businesses are on schedule to open in early 2020. “We are pleased to bring two of the best retailers in the country to Carraway Village and provide new high-quality options on this side of town,” said Adam Golden, Northwood Ravin’s vice president of development.

Other retail tenants and residents could start moving into apartments and ground-floor retail on the western end of the site later this month, Golden said in the news release. The first phase of the $100 million project is adding 400 apartments and 8,844 square feet of retail space. It also will include a Village Green, 24-hour clubhouse, saltwater pool, sky lounge and fitness center.

At full buildout, Carraway Village will have between 600,000 and 837,000 square feet of apartments, retail, offices and hotel rooms. Golden said he expects the development’s location at the intersection of Interstate 40, N.C. 86 and Eubanks Road to “continue to attract a strong mix of high-profile tenants.”

The second, 6,021-square-foot retail building and the Chick-Fil-A restaurant are still under review. Chick-Fil-A could have 110 seats, a drive-thru and 60 parking spaces, according to plans submitted to the town. The new buildings would be just west of the N.C. 86-Eubanks Road-Interstate 40 intersection.
