Prescient, a digital design-build company specializing in low- and mid-rise multifamily and hospitality, has partnered with Helsinki, Finland-based elevator manufacturer KONE to offer KONE’s “smart” elevator services in all future Prescient projects in North America.
Over the course of an initial 18-month collaboration, Prescient has integrated KONE elevators into its core building information modeling (BIM) technology platform. This allows Prescient to use KONE’s elevators as a basis for design from the very start. This will allow Prescient to streamline the elevator design and installation process, prevent issues associated with traditional installation, and increase operating efficiency on construction sites.
“Not only are we excited about this, but our customers are already asking about it. They understand the cross spectrum benefits a strategic partnership like the one we have with KONE will provide,” says Magued Eldaief, CEO of Prescient. “Integrating KONE elevators and IBM Watson into Prescient’s standard design significantly reduces one of the major potential pain points in completing multifamily construction projects.”
Each of Prescient’s KONE elevators also will be equipped with KONE’s 24/7 connected services, which use IBM Watson to gather data and information on the elevators’ operation and use in real-time. Using this data, KONE can predict potential issues in a given unit before they occur, allowing for early fixes and increasing equipment uptime.
"We look forward to collaborating with Prescient, which shares our passion for smart building design and smart construction solutions," says Larry Wash, executive vice president of KONE Americas. "We are excited to see KONE technology showcased in lean construction solutions that help compress schedules and help deliver safe, smooth travel for customers."
