The Point at Reston brings luxury living to Reston, Virginia, providing young professionals with access to all the nearby nightlife, shopping, and dining options as well as offering a respite to the hustle and bustle of the city.
Architect KTGY brought together an authentic style with modern industrial design to create the 306-unit community, which features a mix of studio, one-, and two-bedroom units. The development also was designed to provide residents with a tremendous amount of amenity space where they can spend time outside of their apartments.
Much-needed public open space was added, including a linear plaza with fountains and a splash park along the front façade of the building as well as a pocket park containing a bocce ball court and walking path to provide better pedestrian connection through the neighborhood. An elevated pool deck sits atop the podium, which receives southern sunlight and provides excellent views.
Additional community amenities include a fireplace lounge, a Wi-Fi café and lounge, a fitness and yoga center, an indoor and outdoor sky lounge, a game room, a private dining and warming kitchen, business stations and a conference room for residents working from home, two landscaped courtyards, and a dog spa. Another unique featureis a borrowing pantry that allows residents to borrow large cooking items, such as a stand mixer or extra wine glasses.
Sustainability was at the forefront of the design, achieving NGBS Gold certification. Sustainable features and design decisions included constructing an indoor air quality plan and utilizing low-VOC paints, adhesives, mastics, sealants, and glue. The indoor air quality plan was designed to protect the health and safety of all building occupants and decrease exposure to indoor air contaminants. The team protected the ducts from dust and dirt intrusion and prohibited smoking in the building.
In addition, the community encourages alternate forms of transportation. Located adjacent to a park, trail, amenities, and only 8 miles from Tysons Corner Mall, residents can bike, walk, or take public transportation to get to their desired destinations.
