Aimed to foster wellness and cultivate community in its setting of Baltimore, the Anthem House apartment complex, developed by local developer and builder The Bozzuto Group and designed by KTGY Architecture + Planning, captures the essence of the city’s industrial past and empowers residents to “live their anthem.”

The project, located in the south Baltimore neighborhood of Locust Point, features 292 apartment units with easy accessibility to I-95 and multiple modes of transportation, such as the Charm City Circulator and Water Taxi, as well as several hubs of innovation, including Under Armour.

Historically, Locust Point has been home to several manufacturing giants such as Domino Sugar, Procter & Gamble, and Allied Chemical. When designing the Anthem House and its amenity offerings, the developers intended to construct a building that fit into the context of its industrial roots, starting with the property’s lobby.

From co-working spaces to a coffee-to-cocktails café, the lobby offers residents, guests, and public patrons sleek open spaces on the harbor waterfront to gather, work, socialize, or dine. Similar to a chic boutique hotel, the Anthem House lobby welcomes individuals with a bold and creative energy. Exposed ductwork, focal steel and concrete elements, and public art and murals by local Maryland artists create an inviting environment that also pays tribute to the area’s architectural heritage.

In addition to its design, the lobby builds on the hospitality concept of creating spaces where “people can be alone together.” A library with comfortable seating, a central fireplace, and 16-foot bookshelves provide a lounge feel, while several tables and chairs deliver areas for working or dining opportunities.

Six different retailers occupy the rest of the 20,000 square feet of ground retail space, including Amber, the coffee and cocktails café; a barre fitness studio; a hip spot for jazz and Korean cuisine; an Italian restaurant and wine bar; a local burger shop; and a relaxing day spa. By adding in businesses that draw in regular local customers, the Anthem House lobby includes a blend of public and private realms and allows residents to connect with their community in the shared spaces.

A2, a smaller sister community across the street, offers smart, efficient apartments at a lower price point and access to the full amenity suite at the Anthem House. According to Bozzuto, the proximity to restaurants and energizing public spaces found in the neighboring lobby is a huge selling point for A2. Plus, the combined revenue from both properties’ residents supports employment growth and development in Baltimore City.
