Over the past year and half, the multifamily industry has adapted and pivoted to best serve their organizations, their clients, and, most importantly, their residents. The 2021 Multifamily Executive Award winners are the epitome of this commitment. They showcase best-in-class housing for all walks of life, community transformation, and social impact.

Out of almost 300 entries this year, the jurors selected 13 grand winners and 13 merit winners, along with the Executive of the Year, Related Group’s Jon Paul Pérez, and Rising Star, Southern Land Co.’s Brontë Prins, featured in the September issue. In addition, our jurors have named J Malden Center, the grand winner in the mixed-use category, as the Multifamily Project of the Year. According to developer Jefferson Apartment Group, this mixed-use development in Malden, Massachusetts, represents the only project in the state combining civic, retail, and residential uses.

J Malden Center not only provides 320 luxury apartments in the growing Boston suburb, but it has created a 50,000-square-foot civic office building that is home to the new City Hall, curated retail for the community, and reconnected a major pedestrian street.
