Chicago-based JDL Development has completed work on a new, 250-unit luxury apartment building dubbed SixForty North Wells in Chicago's River North neighborhood. The tower, which is currently 41% leased and 37% occupied, offers 22 floor plans in "convertible" studio layouts as well as one-, two-, and three-bedroom configurations that range from 500 to 1,600 square feet and feature tall, 9-foot 6-inch ceilings.
Each unit is fitted with floor-to-ceiling windows, stone countertops, stainless steel appliances, plank flooring, walk-in showers with frameless glass surrounds, and an in-unit laundry.

“It’s exciting to showcase the transformation of this popular site and officially welcome residents to luxury living at SixForty and everything River North and its neighboring communities offer,” said Yale Dieckmann, executive vice president and chief investment officer at JDL Development, in a press release. “From its A-plus location and amenities to its proximity to downtown, the building is attracting a wide range of renters. It’s very fulfilling to see our vision for the building come to life and to have such positive response from renters.”
SixForty’s fifth-floor amenity deck includes a professional-grade fitness center, golf simulator, and outdoor putting green, as well as a landscaped grill terrace with fire pits. In addition to a panoramic rooftop deck offering views of Downtown Chicago plus a heated pool, hot tub, and cabanas with televisions, a selection of residences offers private balconies. On the building's 23rd floor, a demonstration kitchen, fireside library, dining suite, and gaming lounge round out the building's extravagant amenities.

“With two floors of amenity space, residents have plenty of options for socializing with fellow residents or a group of friends,” said Sheila Byrne, executive vice president of property management at The Habitat Co., which manages the building. “Whether it’s taking advantage of the grills and fire pits or relaxing in the fifth-floor library after a night on the town, SixForty has everything residents want to feel at home—and then some.”

The development is flanked by notable Chicago neighborhoods including the Loop, Gold Coast, and Old Town, and is blocks from Magnificent Mile. For commuters, the Ontario Street feeder ramp offering access to I-90, I-94, and I-290 is nearby, and residents are a short walk from the CTA’s Brown Line and Red Line rail stations. Rents range from $1,850 to $5,820.
