A new, 383,000-square-foot apartment community in San Francisco has received LEED Platinum certification. Operated by Equity Residential, 855 Brannan is now the largest multifamily building in the city to be awarded the LEED program’s highest rating.
The building is located in SOMA’s Design District and features 449 apartment homes, 37,000 square feet of open green space, and 16,000 square feet of retail. Other community amenities include a rooftop deck; pet accommodations, including a dog spa and dog run; game and fitness rooms; and reserved electric-car charging stations.
The development, designed by local firm David Baker Architects, sits on roughly 4.5 acres and has more than 1,000 photovoltaic solar panels, which satisfies approximately 89% of the community’s energy needs. CMG Landscape helped with the landscape design, and Balfour Beatty Construction was the listed contractor on the project.
