Based on color trends laid out in the 2018 Colormix Color Forecast, Sherwin-Williams has created eighteen new color palettes, each specially curated for one of six segments of the construction market: New Residential, Commercial, Healthcare, Hospitality, Education, and Multifamily.
The Multifamily market’s palettes were influenced by current multifamily residential trends, including the notion of moving to the city for the first time and exploring the neighborhood. Designers avoided the notion that all interior walls should be painted white, as many residents now expect their living spaces to reflect their individual styles. The Global Adventure, Soft Minimalism, and Virtual Pop colors are suitable for a variety of lifestyles and applications.

The Global Adventure Palette is inspired by the notion of local urban culture and craft, and by the idea that “home is where you make it.” The collection pairs saturated hues with earthy neutrals. The interior palette includes Revel Blue, Heartthrob, Honey Bees, Cyclamen, Oceanside, Woven Wicker, Aged White, and Alabaster. The exterior palette includes Tamarind, Lotus Pond, Borscht, Breezy, and In The Navy.
The tinted neutral tones of the Soft Minimalism Palette are made to create a space for residents to “unplug.” The interior palette includes Functional Gray, Rojo Dust, Attitude Gray, Sashay Sand, Griffin, Oyster Bay, Malabar, and Natural Linen. The exterior palette includes Homburg Gray, Dover White, Opaline, Wheat Penny, and Colony Buff.

The Virtual Pop Palette was inspired by technology and the virtual world. It is characterized by high-energy colors balanced with white-and near-black. The interior palette includes Jay Blue, Yellow Bird, Ponder, Reflecting Pool, Grape Harvest, Organic Green, Repose Gray, and Eider White. Exterior colors include Westhighland White, Pussywillow, Drizzle, Canyon Clay, and Black Swan.
“Our goal is to provide professionals inspiring and practical resources — these palettes offer the best of the latest color trends combined with insights on the specific needs and attributes of each market segment,” said Michael Plank, director of color marketing and design at Sherwin-Williams. “We look forward to seeing how professionals incorporate the palettes in their designs to create even more transformative spaces.”
