Situated in the Slabtown neighborhood of Northwest Portland, Oregon, the 2023 Gold Nugget Awards’ Multifamily Community of the Year Saltwood provides 354 new apartments split between two buildings on adjacent blocks.
Developers Prometheus Real Estate Group and Cairn Pacific worked with local firm SERA Architects to design complementary buildings reminiscent of the industrial feel prevalent in the historic district, while incorporating many modern design elements and amenities, including an expansive spa experience.
According to the developer’s website, “our spa experience is inspired by the healing properties of nature. Salt, to purify. And wood, to connect.” Featuring a steam room, a dry sauna with a salt wall, a hot tub, a cold plunge dipping pool, and a covered outdoor lounge space with a fire pit, residents can indulge themselves in a full wellness retreat without ever leaving their building.
In addition to the spa, residents have access to a rooftop greenhouse with a vegetable garden, a heated potting shed, an herb wall, and a terrace; a bike lounge with a fix-it station; a coworking space; and a 24/7 fitness center with towel service. The Sun Room rooftop deck also features an indoor-outdoor fireplace and barbecue.
