In a departure from conventional apartment aesthetics, one Toronto complex is saying goodbye to the fluff and frill all too common in interior design and making sure it’s all about what men like.
In the heart of Toronto’s financial district, the INDX condominiums are set to begin construction early in 2013 and will be tailored to the taste of a typical young male professional. Everything from a video golf simulator and a Bulls vs. Bears billiards room, to a poker room, foosball table, and swanky lounge are included as amenities on the second floor. And the units will echo the same cool masculine design. Think wood, metal, and leather everywhere.
According to the president of the co-developer on the project, Andrew Hoffman of CentreCourt Developments, the marketing campaign for the property was actually inspired by television's beloved womanizer Barney Stinson, of "How I Met Your Mother" fame.
But will such a blatant ploy to lure dudes from all over Toronto really work? Sorry ladies, but the answer seems to be “Yes.”
As of last week, all but two of the building's 798 units are already sold. Who knows if the design trend will catch on, but at least the guys who live at INDX will be the envy of all of their bros, living in the world's biggest man-cave.
