Terra has broken ground on Upland Park, a $1 billion mixed-use community in West Miami-Dade, Florida. The new development will transform the West Miami-Dade County’s Dolphin Park-and-Ride Transit Terminal Facility into a 47-acre transit-oriented community with residential, retail, and commercial uses.
Designed by PPK Architects, in collaboration with master plan architect Arquitectonica and urban planner Plusurbia Design, Upland Park will meet the demand for commercial and residential real estate in West Miami-Dade.
At completion, the master-planned development, which will be built in multiple phases, will offer more than 2,000 new mid-rise and garden-style multifamily apartments; roughly 282,000 square feet of retail; and approximately 414,000 square feet of commercial space. The project’s first phase, which is under construction, includes 578 multifamily apartments and is slated for delivery in 2026.
“We are grateful to Miami-Dade County for their support and partnership, which highlights what can be achieved through effective public and private collaboration,” shares David Martin, CEO of Terra. “As a prime example of the growing demand for mixed-use transit-connected communities, Upland Park will not only create jobs and generate new tax revenues, but it will also help drive economic growth and mobility solutions in the county for decades to come.”
To be the largest transit-oriented community in Miami-Dade County’s history, Upland Park will create thousands of jobs and generate over $1 billion in new rent and tax revenues for the county on land that was producing zero public revenues previously, Terra says.
“Through public-private partnerships, we are accelerating smart solutions by adding new transit-oriented communities along major transit corridors,” adds Miami-Dade mayor Daniella Levine Cava. “These developments provide public transportation connections to employment centers, schools, arts and culture, and health care, making it easier for residents to access essential services and opportunities.”
Terra’s portfolio of newly completed multifamily developments across South Florida includes Grove Central, a transit-oriented mixed-use development in Coconut Grove; Natura Gardens, a multifamily community in Northwest Miami-Dade County; and Pines Garden at City Center, a garden-style apartment community in Broward County’s Pembroke Pines.
Terra is also developing Centro City, which will include up to 1,200 apartments as part of a larger 38-acre mixed-use development in central Miami-Dade County.
