The 481 on Mathilda community in Sunnyvale, California.

Not long after SummerHill Apartment Communities celebrated the completion of 634 new luxury residential units across three properties in the Bay Area – 193 units at Domus on the Boulevard, 141 in The Lane on the Boulevard, and 300 at Brio in Walnut Creek – the next project in its pipeline, 481 on Mathilda in Sunnyvale, was ready to go. The developer held its completion celebration for its newest community last Wednesday, officially adding 105 units to its Silicon Valley portfolio.

“The completion ceremony is a celebration of the collaboration between the City of Sunnyvale and SummerHill Apartment Communities,” said Robert Freed, CEO of SummerHill Housing Group, in a release. “Our goal is to produce high-quality housing located near jobs, transportation, and existing services so our residents can enjoy a convenient and satisfying live-work-play lifestyle. We are excited to bring new, housing opportunities to the City of Sunnyvale."

The transit-oriented 481 on Mathilda community is less than a half-mile from the Sunnyvale CalTrain Station and the VTA Lines 22 and 522 at El Camino and Hollenbock/Pastoria. Groceries, retail, and the Murphy Avenue entertainment district are also nearby. Its studios and one- and two-bedroom apartments all feature in-unit washers and dryers, stone counters, gourmet kitchens, wood-finish flooring, private balconies or patios, private entry stoops, and storage space.

The community is pet-friendly, and a pet salon is included among its amenities. A fitness center is also available, along with a resident conference room, a clubroom with an entertaining kitchen, community-wide WiFi, and an on-site parking garage. The landscaped central courtyard also includes a BBQ, an outdoor kitchen, an outdoor “living room,” and expansive green spaces.

With 481 on Mathilda complete, SummerHill Apartment Communities currently has two more communities under construction: Villas on the Boulevard, a 186-unit community in Santa Clara, and Origin, a 153-unit community in Seattle, Wash. Both are set to begin leasing in late 2016 and early 2017.

Four more Summerhill communities, three in the Bay Area and one in the LA metro, are set to break ground in 2017: 290 apartment and condo units in Burlingame, 720 units and 36,000 square feet of retail space in Milpitas, 251 units in Santa Clara and 105 units in Pasadena.
