Landmark Properties has announced that construction is underway for The Legacy at Ann Arbor, a two-building multifamily community on Washington Street in downtown Ann Arbor, Michigan.
Adjacent to the Michigan Theater, the 19-story high rise and mid-rise buildings will include 521 beds across 253 apartments ranging in size from studios to five-bedrooms. Nineteen affordable apartments in the high-rise will be made available to qualifying households.
“Landmark is proud and excited to start construction on our second Ann Arbor development adjacent to such a significantly historic building in the city,” says Wes Rogers, president and CEO of Landmark Properties. The Legacy’s location will appeal to students and professionals wanting to live in the heart of downtown Ann Arbor.”
The mid-rise building will house newly constructed restrooms for the Michigan Theater, and the development overall includes 4,150 square feet of ground floor retail space. Residents will enjoy an outdoor terrace and more than 9,700 square feet of amenities, including a rooftop pool deck, a fitness center, and study rooms.
A joint venture with Cerca Trova, the location is walkable to University of Michigan’s campus and nearby retail, dining and entertainment. “This project represents the finest and most unique location for a quality, mixed-use development in Ann Arbor,” says Howard M. Frehsee, CEO of Cerca Trova, which is based in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. “It also represents years of complicated and intense work, negotiations, and risk. All the stars had to align for the project to come to fruition.”
By August 2024, the property will be open to residents.
