Submitted by: James, Harwick + Partners Putting the "mechanic" in community name Columbia Mechanicsville, architectural firm James, Harwick + Partners allowed industrial, warehouse, and rustic metal themes to figure prominently in a modernized, master-planned development of 48 market-rate and 126 affordable units with rents ranging from $400 to $1,200 month.
Built by GWL Construction, the project, developed by Columbia Residential, is part of a HOPE VI redevelopment of Atlanta's McDaniel Glenn public housing project. Columbia Mechanicsville received more than $5 million in HOPE VI funding for the project, which is designed to provide a community for renters of all economic strata to live, work, and play.
