Bright Realty is the real estate arm of Bright Industries, a firm founded in the 1950s by H.R. “Bum” Bright, a former owner of the Dallas Cowboys. The master-planned Castle Hills community is situated on 2,900 acres of what used to be the Bright family farm in Lewisville, Texas, 23 miles north of Dallas.
The development recently broke ground on Phase II of Discovery at The Realm, one of several projects underway in a development that includes multifamily, office, condos, retail, single-family homes, and entertainment venues.
The Realm was designed to have an urban, walkable feel complete with programming and recreational activities. Phase II of Discovery at The Realm will include 271,868 square feet of multifamily space featuring two buildings with four stories over a podium and 312 luxury apartments.
Amenities will include a dog park, a fitness center, a yoga room, a bocce court, barbecue grills, firepits, and water features. An extensive trail system that connects to the current Discovery trail system is also being planned. Phase I was completed in 2016 with completion of Phase II scheduled for late 2020. The Dallas-Fort Worth area, in particular, is currently a red-hot real estate market.

They are telling us they want the advantages of a suburban setting—outstanding schools, access to a large airport and major employers—while living in a walkable, urban-type setting that allows them to upgrade over time without leaving that community.”
Partners for Phase II of Discovery at The Realm include master-plan architect 505Design, project architect BB&M Architecture, civil engineer and landscape architect LandDesign, general contractor Andres Construction, and lenders First United Bank & Trust Co. and ORIX Public Finance.
Other projects underway in Castle Hills include:
- Phase I of The Realm at Castle Hills, Offices at The Realm, includes a nine-story development currently leasing office and first-floor restaurant and retail space.
- Phase II of The Realm at Castle Hills, under construction, features a 260-unit, five-story apartment community with ground-floor restaurant and retail space. The first units are expected to deliver in late 2020.
- Sojourn at The Realm is an 80-unit condo project under construction and preselling now.
- Cottages at The Realm is a unique, all-new rental home community that is now leasing three- and four-bedroom houses.=
- Crown Centre is a planned mixed-use development that will include a corporate campus, apartments, and retail.
