According to The Columbus Dispatch, developers working on a site that would host a 154-unit apartment building and convert a bookstore into offices and a community room are taking flack from neighbors concerned about traffic, tree removal, and adding more apartments to the neighborhood. The proposed three-story apartment buildings would replace five single-family homes.
The Far Northwest Coalition plans to meet to discuss the project at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Perry Township offices, 7125 Sawmill Road. The property at 6181 Thompson St. needs zoning changes for the apartments and condos. More than 80 residents attended a March 20 meeting on the proposal.
Aaron Neumann, coalition president, said the group is still gathering information about the project. “They are taking a few single-family homes and turning it into a bigger development there,” he said. Jeffrey Brown, the zoning attorney for the developer, said the project has a village feel, and is sensitive to the surrounding environment.
A traffic impact study is being done. According to Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission traffic counts, an average of 17,098 vehicles pass by the site each day on West Dublin-Granville Road. More than five years ago, residents opposed what would become The District at Linworth apartments across from the Village Bookshop site. That development has more than 300 apartments.
