WalletHub, a personal finance website based in Washington, D.C., recently compared median credit scores of residents in 2,572 U.S. cities. The firm collated the data into two lists, “Cities With the Lowest and Highest Credit Scores” and “Percentile Ranking by City Size,” and produced an infographic depicting the highs and lows on a map of the country.
Using data from TransUnion, WalletHub broke down the figures further, into large, midsized, and small cities.
The top five cities with the best credit scores are The Villages and Sun City Center, both in Florida; Sun City West and Green Valley, both in Arizona; and Saratoga, Calif. The bottom five are Detroit; Harvey and East St. Louis, both in Illinois; Chester, Pa.; and Camden, N.J.
