Jefferson Apartment Group (JAG) and joint-venture partner Mitsui Fudosan America (MFA) have acquired the former RCA Building in Arlington, Virginia, to make way for redevelopment as a 27-story luxury high-rise. The mixed-use property will include 422 units and 11,000 square feet of ground-floor restaurant and retail.

Across two towers, JAG’s plans include penthouse units and studio to three-bedroom and den units ranging from 435 square feet to 2,141 square feet. Units will feature gourmet kitchens with large islands, high ceilings, floor-to-ceiling windows, and private balconies overlooking Georgetown.

“We couldn’t ask for a better location in Rosslyn, literally on the doorstep of Washington, D.C.,” says Greg Van Wie, JAG senior vice president and development partner. “We’ve been working on the vision for 1901 N. Moore for several years, and closing on the purchase sets in motion redevelopment of this underutilized property into a one-of-a-kind mixed-use community with iconic architecture that we are immensely proud to bring to Arlington.”

The property will include an amenities package with views of D.C., the National Cathedral, and Potomac River. A glass-floored skybridge connecting the two towers will offer a look at the elevated plaza more than 200 feet below. The skybridge will feature a clubroom with a full kitchen, a fireplace, a gaming area, and a private dining room.

On the rooftop, a resort-style pool, a 360-degree observation deck, and an entertainment deck will be available for residents as well as a two-story fitness center with an adjacent outdoor workout terrace. The package is rounded out with full-time concierge service, a two-story lobby, co-working space, bike storage and tuning space, and a pet spa.

“MFA continues to actively expand its luxury residential footprint,” says Elaine Vrooman, senior director, development. “One of our key corporate objectives is to develop top quality assets through strong relationships with local partners. MFA is pleased to be working once again with Jefferson Apartment Group on another signature development in Northern Virginia’s Rosslyn-Ballston Corridor.”

JAG and MFA partnered on J Sol, a 22-story, 326-unit luxury high-rise in Ballston, which delivered in 2020 during the height of the pandemic and leased up in less than a year.
