Cindy Clare, president of property management at Kettler Management, has begun her term as chairman of the National Apartment Association (NAA) for 2017. She is the third woman to hold the position.

Clare has been active in the multifamily industry for over 30 years. She began her career at The Mark Winkler Co. and Charles E. Smith, where she worked on residential operations and management. She joined Kettler in 2005 and has overseen more than 30,000 units across more than 100 communities for the firm. Clare has also assisted in the development of new communities and the extension of Kettler’s geographic reach beyond the Mid-Atlantic.

As NAA chair, one of Clare’s goals involves a renewed focus on promoting the charitable work of NAA affiliate organizations, which often work with underprivileged students and advocate for housing and jobs. “We know our affiliates, members, and suppliers are all doing great work for their communities,” Clare said in a release. “We just need to let the world know of all the great things the apartment industry does. Our members do more than just provide apartment housing; they are good corporate citizens who care greatly about their communities.”

“Cindy has been a tremendous asset to Kettler since joining the company over a decade ago," said Robert C. Kettler, chairman and CEO of Kettler. “I am confident she will lead the NAA board with the same passion and commitment she has devoted to our organization. We are extremely proud of Cindy and all of her accomplishments, and we look forward to watching her flourish in her new role as NAA chairman.”
