Looking for a city that may be an attractive spot for new development? The Indianapolis Business Journalsays it may be worth checking out Columbus, Ind.
What’s the driver of this demand? Appropriately, it’s a diesel engine maker. Cummins announced last year it would hire 600 “professional” employees in the city. Many of those new hires are young adults. The paper reports that most complexes are “nearly full” and some people are waiting up to three months for apartment, according to The Republic newspaper, also based in Columbus.
But do your due diligence before you go in, the Business Journal reports that two new complexes, totaling 186 units, are on the way.
Columbus is apparently one thriving economic hub. Are there any others out there that apartment owners can identify before they get overbuilt before the next round of development heats up?
