The City Commission of Wilton Manors, Fla., has voted 4–0 to withhold issuing a certificate of occupancy for The Metropolitan, a 179-unit rental complex.
The Commission approved The Metropolitan in 2014 under the condition that the development’s power lines would be installed underground.
Developer Michael Wohl says that he and his partners tried to convince Florida Power & Light (FPL) to install power lines to the property underground, but failed. Wohl’s attorney, Rochert Lochrie, claims the Commission’s vote is unfair, given that FPL wouldn't comply with the Commission’s condition.
Commissioner Scott Newton says the developers failed to conduct due diligence prior to FPL’s refusal.
