As the Unit turns

UDR paid $104 million in June 2012 for the prime location of View 14 on 14th Street, N.W., in Washington, D.C., a metro known for having a highly competitive market for leasing up empty units.

At properties like UDR’s CitySouth in San Mateo, Calif., third-party maintenance workers can be too costly, so UDR assembled an in-house team, which cuts costs during turnover times.

UDR’s Rivergate on East 34th Street in Midtown Manhattan is just one in a large portfolio of assets where move-out days are often staggered throughout the month to reduce the amount of time a unit sits vacant.
