Related Cos. has gleamed most of the attention for the large redevelopment of Manhattan's Far West Side, with its innovative Hudson Yards mega-project, but a new player is finally taking the spotlight with the first apartment community in town.
Manhattan West is a "glittering 7 million-square-foot mixed-use development," as New York Times writer C.J. Hughes puts it. The first building in the project, the Eugene, opened in March and is the first residential property to kick off the area's high-brow style. Office buildings, called One Manhattan West and Two Manhattan West, are scheduled to open in the coming years.
Rents at the Eugene start at $3,210 a month for studios, $4,480 a month for one-bedrooms, and $6,780 a month for two-bedrooms, according to Andrew Brent, a Brookfield spokesman, who added that the three-bedrooms have not yet been priced. A one-year lease comes with an extra free month of rent, and Brookfield will pick up broker fees.
