The Charlotte Business Journal's Jenna Martin looks at MPF Research data that show the Uptown/South End submarket of Charlotte, N.C., to be the busiest in the nation for new units coming on line.
Since 2012, more than 4,090 new units have been delivered in the submarket, marking an inventory growth rate of a whopping 107.7%. But that's just a drop in the bucket: The pipeline of apartments currently under construction or proposed is even higher, at more than 4,800, in Uptown/South End:
Of those nearly 5,000 apartments under construction in the first quarter, 2,524 should be completed by the end of the year, MPF Research said.
Charlotte was followed by the Frisco/Prosper submarket of Dallas; Central Nashville, Tenn.; Downtown/Montrose/River Oaks Houston; and Navy Yard/Capitol South, Washington, D.C., in MPF's ranking of the nation's 10 busiest submarkets.
